Grubby Paws Art Studio is a clay studio and shop at the back of a historic Kincardine home. Artists Jane Rigby and Antje Martens-Oberwelland are creating in the basement studio and showing their art a few steps up at the shop.
Jane Rigby
is a Ceramic Artist with a BA in Art and Architectural History and a MA in Iconography (study of visual images in art). She is the owner and manager of Grubby Paws Art Studio and invented with her beloved Border Collies the popular Grubby Paws line of pet lifestyle products. Her functional and decorative Maple Leaves Ceramic Creations are not only sold at the store, but have been featured at many tourists destinations across Canada. Jane and her late husband, Paul, lived in various countries, e.g. the Middle East and South America, where they established trading relationships with local artisans whose unique wares are sold in the shop: from Lokta paper made in Nepal, to jewelry and collectibles from Greece, South America and more.
Antje Martens-Oberwelland
is an award-winning fine artist, has been represented by galleries in Canada and Europe as well as participated in local, national and international juried art exhibitions. Her artwork ranges from functional ceramics to clay sculptures, whimsical paintings in oil or ink, abstracts and prints. She has been illustrating book covers and line art and is available for commissions. Antje also works in the healing arts, is a certified Eden Energy Medicine practitioner and treats clients at her Healing Room office upstairs in the same building.
